Doctoral Research

My PhD dissertation analyzes the surveillance experiences of Turkish young people; how they understand, experience, assess and engage with surveillance through their smartphones, mobile apps and social media. For my research, I conducted focus group and one-to-one qualitative in-depth interviews with young adults in Turkey.

Before starting PhD at Queen’s University, I worked for about ten years in different positions in the field of trade, sales, and marketing in multinational and small-medium size companies in Turkey. During the PhD, I was the Surveillance Studies Centre seminar series organizer for three years.
