Research/Teaching:

  • law and public policy;
  • ethics in public service;
  • reconciliation with Canada's Aboriginal peoples.

Alison Fraser is an adjunct professor at the School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University, where she has taught graduate courses since 2009.

After working in private practice, Alison began her career with the OPS in 1985. Her past positions include Legal Director at the ministries of Labour, Community and Social Services and Children’s Services, and Assistant Deputy Minister, Democratic Renewal Secretariat. Alison’s last position at the Ontario Public Service was Chief Legislative Counsel. In that role, Alison led the organization in the drafting, translation, editing and publication of Ontario law.

Alison has an LL.B from University of Toronto, and a B.A. from Carleton University, and has completed the Queen’s Public Executive Program. She has acted as a mentor to hundreds if not thousands of OPS employees, and now carries on that tradition with her students.
