Determining Career Direction

To determine a good job fit and be able to demonstrate that fit to employers, it's really helpful to know these three things about yourself:

  1. Your interests: what you love to do — A good job for you includes interests around which you like to focus your attention.
  2. Your skills: what you are good at — A good job for you builds on skills you’ve already developed and gives you a chance to do more.
  3. Your values/needs: what’s important to you — A good job for you supports your values and needs.

When you know these things and can articulate them to others, you are on your way to investigating opportunities and evaluating offers.
