A Student Affairs Communications Intern working with her colleagues

We're Hiring!

We are looking for a Communications Intern through the Queen's Undergraduate Internship Program to join us for a 12–16 month internship in Student Affairs.

You will report directly to the Director of Digital Marketing and Communications for Student Affairs, and will build the job-ready skills you need to have an advantage over your peers. This hands-on role will develop the skills you need, as you will be developing all aspects of marketing communications for all channels, including Strategy, Design, Production, Project Management, and Campaign Measurement. You will help develop and implement digital, social, print and general communications strategies for one of Queen’s largest divisions. 


  • Create and update annual strategic communications plans, including research, planning, recommending strategies and tactics, overseeing execution and tracking campaigns 
  • Help develop a social media ecosystem for the Division, including strategy and content creation
  • Support communications and other related projects, including event management, presentation and publication development, and email marketing
  • You will have the experience of end-to-end development of print publications, where you are the primary designer 
  • Develop and implement (designing/making/writing) a variety of projects, including branding, logo design, infographics, website design, event marketing, email marketing, print, video, etc.)
  • Coordinate with stakeholders on approvals
  • Deliver projects on time and on budget 


  • Experience designing with Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
    • You will need to show some of your work 
  • A demonstrable understanding of social media networks, and how to connect with students 
  • Experience in web development or working with a Content Management System an asset, but not necessary  
  • Creative or advertising copywriting an asset. 
  • Must have experience editing and possess a strong attention to detail 
  • Excellent project and time management skills (creating and maintaining detailed work plans) to set and manage timelines and goals so that projects are completed on time and on budget
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, while delivering accurate work
  • Ability to respond positively to creative criticism 
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and team skills. Ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn

QUIP internships are paid, professionally supervised, career-related positions designed to offer second or third year students the opportunity to learn about current advances, practices and technologies in business and industry.
