Named Bader International Study Centre Bursaries
The following bursaries and awards have been made available thanks to the generosity of Queen's donors.
Only students studying at the Bader International Study Centre (BISC) are eligible to apply for a BISC Bursary.
The following named BISC Bursaries have been made possible due to generous donations from specific donors. If a student is selected to receive a BISC Bursary the name of their bursary may be amended to one of the following awards. Please note that only the name of the award will change after a student has been selected; the value of their BISC Bursary assistance will not change depending on the name of the award.
BISC Bursaries Open to All Students
Alfred Bader International Study Award
Established by Alfred Bader and awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need to student(s) for study at the Bader International Study Centre.
Claire L. Leggett International Study Award
The terms for this award are cross listed with named Exchange Bursaries.
Note: To be considered for this award students must submit either an Exchange Bursary application or a BISC Bursary application depending on their situation.
John Greer Nicholson BISC Award
Awarded on the basis of financial need to a student studying at the Bader International Study Centre.
Kathleen Ryan Bader International Study Centre Award
Established by a bequest from Kathleen Ryan, B.A. 1926, and awarded on the basis of financial need and academic excellence to upper year students for study at the Bader International Study Centre.

Bader International Study Centre Bursary
Awarded on the basis of financial need to students studying at the Bader International Study Centre.
Blakely Family International Study Award
Established by Robert Blakely, LL.B. 1973 and Cindy Blakely. Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic excellence to two upper-year, full-time undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Science. Preference is given to students in the Department of Sociology. One award will be directed to a student studying at the Bader International Study Centre (BISC) and students apply on the BISC bursary application form available from the Student Awards office. The second award will be directed to a student participating in a Queen's official exchange program and students complete the "Exchange Bursary" application form available from the Student Awards Office and submit the form to the International Programs Office along with the application for exchange.
Commerce 2009 Award in Memory of Baha Bekenov
The terms for this award are cross listed with named Exchange Bursaries, School of Business.

Stephen Csatari Memorial Award
Established in October 2002 by family, friends and fellow students in memory of Stephen Csatari a third year honours History student at the International Study Centre in 2002, who died suddenly of a rare and undetected heart defect, and awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to upper year students in the Faculty of Arts and Science, with a major or medial in History, who are enrolled in History courses at the Bader International Study Centre (BISC). If there are no eligible candidates, the award could be granted to students in any program at the BISC.
Donald C. and Cornelia N. Elliott Award
Established by Donald C. Elliott and Cornelia N. Elliott. Donald C. Elliott was a member of the Board of Trustees of Queen's University from 1985 to 2000, and Chairman of the Board from 1995 to 2000. Awarded to any student in any year in any program on the basis of financial need and academic excellence. Preference will be given to (1) student enrolled at the Bader International Study Centre or any comparable successor program, or, if there are no eligible students to (2) students in the departments of Fine Art and Music.
International Study Award
Awarded on the basis of financial need to students studying at the Bader International Study Centre (BISC). Application should be made on the BISC Bursary Application form and should be submitted to the Office of the University Registrar (Student Awards).
Franklin G. T. Pickard Memorial International Award
Established by Audrey Pickard, Barbara Pickard and Beverly Pickard in memory of Franklin G.T. Pickard, B.A. 1957, Honorary Doctor of Business Administration, Laurentian University, 1996, for his forty years of active support and promotion of Queen's University. Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic excellence to enable Queen's students to participate in a period of study at the Bader International Study Centre.
Donna G Young Sexsmith International Studies Award
Established in March 2019 by Estate of Donna G. Young-Sexsmith, BA 1943, and awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need, to upper-year students who have been selected to attend the Bader International Study Centre. Preference will be given to students demonstrating academic excellence.
Sutton International Study Award
The terms for this award are cross listed with named Exchange Bursaries, School of Business.

Allan R. Taylor International Study Award
Established in February 1996 and revised in April 2014 in honour of Allan R. Taylor and awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need and academic excellence to students who have been selected to attend the Bader International Study Centre (BISC).
Vice-Provost BISC Bursary
Established in May 2018 by Dr. Hugh Horton (Vice Provost and Executive Director) and awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to students who have been selected to attend the Bader International Study Centre. Preference will be given to upper-year students.
