Admission Bursaries

We continue to expand our needs-based financial aid initiatives to reduce financial and personal barriers so you can thrive at Queen's.

A bursary is based on an assessment of your financial need. It is an amount of money you receive to assist you in financing your education that you do not have to pay back.

Applying for an Undergraduate Admission Bursary

To be eligible for most admission bursaries you must be:

  • A Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Demonstrate financial need based on, but not restricted to, the following factors:
    • Student and family income
      • Decisions regarding eligibility for Queen's bursary assistance are based on the parent's ability, not willingness, to assist their dependant
    • Number of dependants in the family
    • Applicant's assets (including savings, anticipated resources through government student financial aid)
    • Full cost of the program of study, books, supplies, and basic living expenses
  • Entering post-secondary studies for the first time
  • Entering the first year of full-time studies in an undergraduate degree program in September or participating in the Queen's First-Year Program at Bader College (Herstmonceux Castle)

If you indicate on your Financial Aid and Awards Profile that you want to be considered for Work Study it will have no bearing on your assessment for bursary funding.

International and U.S. students should visit the International and U.S. Students section for more information about admission awards and other sources of funding.

  1. Log into SOLUS Student Centre
  2. Select the Financial Aid tile
  3. Select the Online Award Applications navigation
  4. Select the Queen's Financial Aid and Awards Profile

The 2023-24 Queen’s Financial Aid and Awards Profile is now available via your SOLUS Student Centre. Navigate to the Financial Aid tile and select Online Award Applications to access the application.

We recommend students submit their application by February 15, 2023. Applications will continue to be accepted after this date. Students are encouraged to submit their Financial Aid and Awards Profile at the same time they are applying for admission to Queen's.

Most students selected to receive an admission bursary will be notified with their offer of admission. Students should view their SOLUS Student Centre to see if they have been selected for a bursary or award for the program they have been offered admission to.

Notes:

  • The values shown for the bursaries and awards were in effect at the time of publication. Queen's University reserves the right to revise or withdraw any award without prior notice
  • The grades listed for individual awards are based on the Canadian School System and generally reflect the average of the previous year's recipients and are not a guaranteed level for receiving an award
  • Bursaries are granted to students based on their current level of financial need. If you are not able to attend in a given year, bursary funding cannot be deferred
