Taking Courses at Another Institution

Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)

Students must submit an OSAP application to the institution where they are paying the majority of their tuition and fees (i.e. taking the majority of their courses).

A student may take course(s) through another institution in addition to their courses at Queen's University; for example, some students choose to take courses through another institution by correspondence/distance studies while taking on-campus courses at Queen's.

The courses you are taking at another institution must count as credit towards your Queen's degree (i.e. taken on a letter of permission) in order for the course’s costs (e.g. tuition, fees, books) to be included as part of your OSAP assessment.

To update your OSAP account to include the courses you are taking at another institution you must submit the following to Queen's Student Awards Office:

  1. A completed Queen's University Student Studying at Another Institution form
*Students are responsible for completing their section of the Queen's University Student Studying at Another Institution form. The host institution the student is taking course(s) at must complete the "To be completed by the Host University" portion of the form and send it back to the Queen's Student Awards Office either by fax or mail
  2. A copy of your Queen's Letter of Permission approving each course you are taking at the other institution. Contact your faculty for further information on obtaining a Letter of Permission

*If you are taking courses at Athabasca University, please contact the Student Awards Office for more information.

It is recommended that students submit the above documents to the Queen's Student Awards Office as soon as possible after registering in a course(s) at another institution.
