Mission & Mandate

The Student Experience Office (SEO) in the Division of Student Affairs at Queen's is located in the Student Life Centre and offers programs and services to orient students to university life, to support their successful transitions into and through university, and to encourage leadership development, student engagement, and co-curricular involvement while at Queen's. Our goal is to support a holistic student experience that prepares students to achieve not only their personal, social, and academic goals, but also their professional and community aspirations. Programs and services enhance student learning and development across personal, social, intellectual, and community domains, including:

The Student Experience Office provides effective student orientation and transition programs, as well as valuable leadership development and community-engaged learning opportunities. Dedicated professional staff members and trained student leaders plan, coordinate, and implement exceptional programs and services that meet the needs of a diverse student body. Programs and services, informed by best practice research and ongoing program assessment and evaluation, include:

  • University Orientation: A first-year orientation for incoming students
  • A cross-disciplinary Summer Orientation to Academics and Resources (SOAR) for incoming students
