Leadership Workshop Series

The Leadership Workshop Series is a set of workshops designed for students who are looking to expand on their current leadership knowledge, develop new skills and connect with other students. Attend four workshops to receive a Student Leadership Certificate from the SEO!

Engaging Students Online

Creating engaging experiences for other students in an online environment can be challenging. In this module, you will learn about and practice strategies for engaging students online and create an action plan for incorporating online engagement strategies into your programming

• Community building – develop relationships that create a sense of connection, community, and belonging

• Adaptability – take a flexible approach and adjust when faced with unexpected challenges

• Resilience – identify the internal and external skills, strengths, and resources that one can draw on in navigating difficulties or obstacles

• Navigating group dynamics – understand group dynamics and use this knowledge to work toward positive relationships when working on a team

Facilitation Skills

Are facilitation and presentation the same thing? Explore this and more in the ‘Facilitation Skills’ workshop. Learn ways to engage your audience, provide opportunities for interaction and connection, and work towards creating trainings and discussions that will be remembered.

• Teamwork – create space for and actively encourage contributions from team members with diverse perspectives and strengths

Queen's Resources & Making Referrals

Being aware of resources at Queen’s and knowing how to make an effective referral is an important part of supporting your peers and friends. This workshop covers how to identify when a referral is appropriate or necessary, and ways to connect others with the support they may need.

• Empathy – be empathetic, sense others’ feelings, and seek to understand how others see things

Giving & Receiving Feedback

By giving and receiving feedback, we are able to reflect on previous tasks and continue to improve. Without feedback, we are less likely to identify areas of weakness or potential in our work. Although extremely important, there tends to be hesitation when it comes to both providing and receiving feedback. This workshop will provide you with the skills to navigate feedback scenarios.

Vision boards are simple tools that can help you concentrate on your specific goals and aspirations. Join us for this interactive workshop where you will create your very own inspirational, digital vision board that you can set as your phone or computer background. Whether you are new to vision boarding or haven’t had time to make yours for 2021, this workshop will help your goals be seen! Come hang out with us!

Online Debriefing

After completing a project or event, it’s always helpful to debrief in order to get the most out of the experience. What is debriefing, though? How is it beneficial? Why does it matter?
