Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

One of the key components of the University’s broader objective to create a sustainable campus is increasing support for alternative modes of transportation, be it cycling, public transit or lower carbon commuting. We can reduce approximately one metric tonne of carbon emissions for every Queen’s single-occupant-vehicle commuter that chooses an alternative transportation mode.

The university is excited to be supporting cleaner modes of transportation by installing over 60 electric vehicle charging stations across 7 designated parking sites. With this infrastructure in place, the university can accommodate electric vehicles on campus by providing drivers with the chance to charge their vehicles at work or when visiting.  The stations consist of two chargers that can accommodate two vehicles at once and be compatible with all ranges of 100% electric or plug-in hybrids currently on the market. This, first-of-its-kind initiative for Queen’s will help pave the way for more sustainable transportation within our community.
