STRING QUARTETS by QUEEN’S COMPOSERS

Saturday, March 21, 2020, 7:30 pm

Opening with a Haydn String Quartet, this concert features music composed by current and former Queen’s faculty members, Clifford Crawley, Michel Szczesniak and John Burge, the latter being represented by a new work for santur and string quartet featuring Sadaf Amini. The santur is a persian instrument that is similar to a hammered dulcimer and Sadaf, a Kingston resident, has been impressing audiences with her virtuosity on the santur for the past few years, including being one of the prize winners in the  Isabel Bader Centre’s 2019 YGK Emerging Musician Competition.
