Environmental Health and Safety

Dan Langham, Director

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate an integrated approach to environmental health and safety management for all university facilities and operations.
  • Develop and maintain environmental health and safety policy and programs to ensure the University is providing a health and safety work environment and operating in compliance with all applicable environmental health and safety legislation.
  • Liaison with environmental health and safety regulatory agencies.
  • Administration of the Department of Environmental Health & Safety.
  • Coordination of the University HAZMAT Team.

Dan Langham joined Queen’s University in October 1999 and was appointed the Director of Environmental Health & Safety in 2002 after holding various positions within the department.   Prior to working at Queen’s, Dan was involved with environmental inspection and environmental health and safety management in the oil and gas sector both in Canada and internationally.   

Dan is a member of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists and the Ontario Association of Emergency Managers.  He also served a two year term as the Chair of the Council of Environmental Health & Safety Officers for Ontario Universities from 2010 to 2012 and is currently a member of the Canadian Association of University Business Officer’s Risk Management Committee. 

He holds a Master of Science degree and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from the University of Guelph.
