Anchors

Description

Anchors can be use to link a user to a specific section of a page (similar to a bookmark)

WP2 Implementation

In WebPublish 2, anchors were always added through the WYSIWYG editor. You can recognize than an anchor is present when there is a red flag icon (shown below)

present when editing the page. To identify the anchor ID, double click the icon. You’ll need to copy this ID to migrate it to WP3

Migrating to WP3

To migrate an anchor in WebPublish 3:

  1. first determine how the content containing the anchor will be presented. Will it live in a paragraph? Or will it be included in the main body content?
  2. If the content will be presented in a paragraph, determine which type of paragraph it will be added to. The following paragraphs contain their own field to add an anchor ID.
    • Accordion Container
    • Circle Column Icon (if using this paragraph, make sure you add the anchor ID to the correct place. It can be added to the top description, or an individual column)
    • Circle Image Column (if using this paragraph, make sure you add the anchor ID to the correct place. It can be added to the top description, or an individual column)
    • Column Card (if using this paragraph, make sure you add the anchor ID to the correct place. It can be added to the top description, or an individual column)
    • Slider (field name referred to as Slider ID override)
    • Image (Banner)
    • Image (Large)
    • Image (Gallery)
    • Link Set (if using this paragraph, make sure you add the anchor ID to the correct place. It can be added to the top description, or an individual column)
    • Site Branding
    • Staggered Block (if using this paragraph, make sure you add the anchor ID to the correct place. It can be added to the top description, or an individual column)
    • Testimonial
    • Text Grid
    • Video Embed
    • Queen’s Event Feed
    • Queen’s News Feed

 

  1. To migrate an anchor to one of these paragraphs
    1. Follow the “Add an anchor to a paragraph” tutorial: https://www.queensu.ca/webpublish/tutorials/manage-content/links-and-anchors
    2. Make sure that the anchor ID matches the WP2 ID.
  2. If the content will be presented in the main body field or one of the following paragraphs:
    1. Extra Body
    2. Two Column Body
  3. To migrate an anchor to one of these paragraphs:
    1. Follow the “Add an anchor in the WYSIWYG” tutorial: https://www.queensu.ca/webpublish/tutorials/manage-content/links-and-anchors
    2. Make sure that the anchor ID matches the WP2 ID.
