Slideshows

Description

Slideshows are a series of images that display on a timed rotation.

WP2 Implementation

In WP2, slideshows were built in their own content type. A slideshow would be created with a series of image/caption pairs. It was then embedded using the node embed feature on the page where it should be displayed.

Migrating to WP3

To migrate a slideshow to WP3, you’ll need to use the Slider paragraph to the page where the slideshow should appear. Follow the instructions for “Adding a Slideshow”: https://www.queensu.ca/webpublish/tutorials/paragraphs-and-layouts/sliders

You will need to make sure that you transfer the images, captions and alternative text from the original WP2 slideshow. To do this:

  1. Navigate to the Slideshow content in WP2 and click "Edit draft"
  2. In each image/caption pair, locate the image and click the link to the image
  3. Right-click the image and click "Save image as" to save it to your Desktop (or a location you can easily find)
  4. Repeat for each image
  5. Once you have you images saved, follow the "Adding a Slideshow" tutorial referenced above. Upload each image, then copy and paste the alternative text and caption for each into the Slider.
