Biography

Sylvat Aziz trained at universities in Pakistan, the USA and Canada for Studio Arts and Comparative Literature.  She was the recipient of the full year Banff Scholarship and the CFI Grant for her research, and has held major residencies in North America, UK, Europe and South Asia.  Her work has been shown nationally and internationally, venues include: the Venice Biennale, the Istanbul Symposia, National Gallery of Pakistan, Cartwright Hall, UK, Nickel Arts Museum, AB, Beaverbrook Art Gallery and Owens Art Gallery, NB and Eicher Gallery, New Delhi.  

Her research focuses on popular visual culture and studio media. Current projects are based in Nicosia, Cyprus and Punjab/Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa, Pakistan.

Currently she teaches Paintmedia and Composition/Drawing and is cross-listed with Gender Studies and Cultural Studies at Queen’s University, Kingston Ontario.
