Federal Contractors Program

The Federal Contractors Program (FCP) requires that organizations with 100 or more employees and who receive at least $200,000 in federal contracts commit to implementing employment equity with regard to four designated groups-Aboriginal people, people with disabilities, visible minorities/racialized groups and women.

Queen’s employs more than 3,600 people and receives nearly $59 million in federal funding annually. Therefore, it is a Federal Contractor.

Some Queen’s responsibilities under the FCP include:

  • Collecting data on the representation of designated group members in the workforce
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining an employment equity plan
  • Communicating equity responsibilities to the University community
  • Complying with federal auditing procedures
