Program:Geological Engineering

Current year:4th

Why I chose Geological Sciences or Geological Engineering:

I wanted a field-based career that also combined the basic sciences that I’ve always liked.

Andres in the field surrounded by rocksSpeak to your experience doing an exchange:

It has been great participating in field trips as soon as the term starts, using state of art software, and meeting other students as passionate about geology as I am.

The professor(s) or course which has influenced me the most so far:

Even though every course I’m taking has been tremendously engaging, I have to highlight Geology of North America and Advanced Applied Geophysics. Professor Spencer and Pufahl make a really interesting course linking earth systems from their field of specialization, which is really the perfect way to understand the evolution of continents. And on the other side, Prof. Braun course it’s a total hands-on experience, letting us carry and design our own geophysical survey, which was at the St. Lawrence Wollastonite Skarn.

Most memorable Queen’s experience so far:

The first field trip of GEOL221

What do you like to do in your spare time?:

Hiking, reading, going to the gym, and spending time with my girlfriend, family, and friends.

After I graduate, I:

want to pursue a master’s in Structural Geology applied to ore deposits and hopefully get a job in the same area.
