Resolving Accommodation Concerns

In line with the University's Dispute Resolution Procedure, we aim to resolve accommodation concerns based on the principles of procedural, substantive, and relational fairness. See how to address your concerns below.

Concern with QSAS Decision

This process is for concerns regarding the decisions about disability documentation and/or academic accommodations. If you believe that a decision has been made that does not meet your disability-related needs:

  1. Email the Intake Coordinator or Accessibility Advisor and explain your concern.
  2. If you feel that your concern has not been appropriately addressed in Step 1, request to be connected with the QSAS Assistant Manager.
  3. If you feel that your concern has not been appropriately addressed in Step 2, request to be connected with the QSAS Manager.
  4. If you feel that your concern has not been appropriately addressed in Step 3, you may consult the Dispute Resolution Procedure for next steps.

Concern with Implementation Decision

This process is for concerns regarding the implementation of academic accommodations in class and/or accommodated assessments. If you believe that an accommodation has not been implemented in a way that meets your disability-related needs:

  1. Connect with your instructor or faculty about your concern.
    1. Express which accommodation you feel has not been fully implemented.
    2. Share the academic impacts you are experiencing because the accommodation is/was not fully implemented.
    3. Request to explore if the accommodation can be implemented or whether there are additional ways that your disability-related barrier can be addressed.

  2. If you feel that the discussion with your instructor or faculty has not addressed your concerns, you may consult the Dispute Resolution Procedure for next steps.

At any point throughout this process, you are welcome to seek guidance from the Human Rights and Equity Office advisory services.
