Care Support Services

Care Support Services supports students by getting them referred to resources early on. We rely on campus community members (e.g. academic advisors, coaches, residence life staff) to refer students who may be facing difficulties, either academically or personally.

How do Care Referrals work?

Concern  Care Connect

  1. Concern: A faculty or staff member notices a student who is having difficulties or is in distress.

  2. Care: Faculty and staff can make a referral via the online portal by following the link below - you will be prompted to login with your NetID. Other members of the Queen's community can get in contact by emailing caresupportservices@queensu.ca

Care Referrals are reviewed by an Intake Coordinator who will then help to identify an appropriate campus resource to connect with the student. If the concern is determined to be best handled by the Assessment and Care Team (ACT), the Intake Coordinator will provide the information to the Coordinator of ACT.

  3. Connect: Care will reach out to the student and offer support or referrals to other resources to help support their success.

Care provides the following services:

  • Help students find ways to set goals and overcome obstacles.
  • Supports students in exploring new resources to help them be successful.
  • A listening ear to offer support in coping with stress and challenges.
  • Assistance in reaching academic and relationship goals.
