Selection Process Criteria

  • All applications received by the deadline will be pre-screened to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements of the award.
  • All identifying information will be removed from documentation before the panel review to ensure anonymity.
  • A panel will then review the applications and select the recipients. Selection will be based on:
    1. A strong demonstration of financial need.
    2. The quality of the applicant’s essay. The essay should demonstrate clarity of thought, a compelling goal, and a vision.
    3. A clear link between the applicant’s intended field of study and their goals and aspirations.
    4. The applicant’s potential as a leader, and/or change-maker who will make a positive impact in the natural resources industry.

Conditions

  • Tuition Awards are subject to the availability of annual funding.
  • Selection decisions are final and are not open to appeal. The GSGE Department will not be able to provide feedback to unsuccessful candidates.
  • Since MEERL is a part-time, online program, it does not qualify for provincial funding (OSAP). The remainder of the MEERL tuition is the responsibility of the student.
  • If at some point you are no longer a MEERL student and the full funding has not been issued, the GSGE department will withhold the funding to be granted to a future MEERL student.
  • Applications will not be accepted after the deadline of May 31, 2021.
