Shannon Webb has an interdisciplinary background in law and industrial relations. Shannon graduated from Western University (LL.B.), Queen’s University (M.I.R.), St. Mary’s University (Ph.D.), and York University (LL.M.).
Dr. Webb has practiced management-side labour and employment law. Her practice included advising clients on daily matters, drafting employment agreements, and leading collective bargaining. She has also represented clients in matters related to wrongful dismissal claims, human rights matters, policy development, and grievance arbitration.
After practicing labour and employment law in Ontario and Nova Scotia, Dr. Webb turned her focus to academia. She currently teaches graduate-level courses in the Masters of Industrial Relations program, and in the EMPR Certificate program, at Queen’s University. Dr. Webb also teaches primarily university graduates at Fanshawe College in the Human Resources Management Graduate Certificate program and part-time with Western University in the BMOS program.
Dr. Webb’s main research interests focus on empirical studies of labour and employment law issues. Her current focus is on the expedited arbitration process where the research examines the impact of the arbitration process on the results in dismissal cases. She is also conducting an empirical analysis of the case law, decided by the Supreme Court of Canada, relating to s. 2 of the Charter.
