Queen’s University has been advised that the Queen’s University Faculty Association (QUFA) has authorized a strike vote for their members ahead of further conciliation meetings. Both Conciliation and a strike vote are common occurrences in the collective bargaining process.

Representatives of the university and QUFA have been actively engaged in collective bargaining since May.

Negotiations remain professional and constructive. As is typical in any negotiation process, there are periods of progress and periods of more challenging discussions. The parties are currently working with a Conciliation Officer to assist with the negotiations.

Queen’s University values the important contributions of its people and remains committed to working with QUFA and the Conciliator to reach a fair, renewed collective agreement through ongoing respectful dialogue.

The parties next meet with the conciliation officer August 18-19, 2026.
