From first-year curiosity to doctoral research, the lab supports people at every stage.
🎓 Teaching
We support course-integrated neurotech experiences, from introductory EEG demonstrations to advanced BCI design projects, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
🔬 Research Infrastructure
The lab provides shared equipment and workspace for student and faculty research projects, reducing the barrier to prototyping and data collection across disciplines.
🏆 Community Events
Through workshops, hackathons, and seminar series, we build a community of neurotech enthusiasts and practitioners across engineering, science, and health disciplines.
The Space
Located in Abramsky Hall 002 at Queen's University, the Neurotech Discovery Lab occupies a suite of dedicated spaces designed to support the full range of neurotechnology research and teaching activities.
Seminar Room
A medium-sized seminar room accommodating around 25 people, used for workshops, lectures, collaborative sessions, and capstone project presentations. The space is regularly used for Discovery Labs course meetings and visiting speaker events.
Motion Capture Room
A dedicated room for movement and behavioural research, housing the lab's markerless motion capture system. The space is configured for full-body kinematics recording and can be combined with wireless biosignal systems for multi-modal motor studies.
Experimental Spaces
Several smaller rooms for stationary experimental paradigms — EEG, fNIRS, psychophysics, and stimulus presentation setups. Each space includes analysis workstations pre-configured with the full neuroscience software stack, with select machines equipped with GPUs for AI model training and deep learning workloads.

Open Access
Equipment and resources are available to all Queen's students and researchers, regardless of department or experience level. No prior neurotech background is required.
Hands-On Learning
We believe the most effective way to learn neurotechnology is to use it. Every visitor leaves with direct, practical experience rather than theory alone.
Interdisciplinary Thinking
The most impactful neurotech research happens at the intersection of engineering, neuroscience, psychology, and medicine. We actively foster cross-disciplinary collaboration.
