Research Projects

Evaluate Pathobiological and Clinical Significance of Tumor Immune Microenvironment in Multiple Myeloma (MM) and Therapy-Related Myelodysplastic Syndrome / Acute Myeloid Leukemia (t-MDS / t-AML)

  • evaluate key immune cell subsets in formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded (FFPE) archival myeloma bone marrow specimens
  • temporal dynamics following disease progression and treatment (conventional chemotherapy, immune therapy)
  • clinical outcome correlation
section of bone marrow from a multiple myeloma patient
section of bone marrow from a multiple myeloma patient who has developed therapy-related MDS/AML

Diagnostic Development: Validation of Multiplex and Spatial Diagnostic Assays

  • develop multiplex (10-plex) immunostaining assays as the next-generation of laboratory developed tests (LDTs) for FFPE specimens
  • quantitative diagnostic reporting of immune cell subsets and relevant spatial relationships (PD1+ %, tumor to CD8+ T cell distance, neighborhood composition, intra-tumoral heterogeneity)
  • we welcome opportunities to collaborate on immune biomarker correlative analysis for clinical trials
