Admission Updates
Concurrent Education/French
Popularly known as Con-Ed, Concurrent Education is a program for high school graduates with a passion for teaching and learning. For September 2024, Queen's will be expanding its popular Concurrent Education program to include the opportunity for students to complete a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in French concurrently with their Bachelor of Education.
Students admitted to the ConEd French Program will be admitted directly to a French major (instead of declaring the major in the second year as happens with most Arts and Science programs). At the end of the first year, students will select either Primary-Junior (K - Grade 6) or Intermediate-Senior (Grade 7 - 12) teaching divisions. Students who select Primary-Junior will be placed in the Primary-Junior French as a Second Language program track in their final year. Students who select Intermediate-Senior must have French as a Second Language as their first teaching subject.
Queen’s Concurrent Education is a 5-year + 1 summer term program that prepares secondary school graduates to become educators and qualify for Ontario College of Teachers certification. Our graduates are out into the job market a year earlier since most other Ontario faculties of education offer their programs over 6 years with typical fall/winter semesters.
With Queen’s ConEd, you will be working on 2 degrees at the same time, both from day 1! The Education degree from Queen’s (BEd) is widely accepted for teacher certification across Canada and worldwide. What makes Queen’s grads more marketable is that they will all graduate with a concentration in 1 subject area.
New document deadline to submit all documents, including transcripts and English test scores is March 31, 2024.
This year’s Supplementary Application is being delivered through a new platform for an improved applicant experience, with additional functionality to allow applicants to practice and prepare for the submission of their Supplementary Application.
Applicants applying to Health Sciences, Nursing and Commerce will be required to complete one written response and one video response.
Learn more about the Supplementary Application here.
We are excited to share that our student ambassador programs have expanded. This allows for high-school students to speak and connect with our current students, and get a sense and feel for what life at Queen's has to offer them.
