At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify nephrological indications for SGLT2i
- Describe what to expect post-SGLT2i initiation – effect on GFR, proteinuria
- Differentiate Co-prescription with SGLT2i – what to stop, what to continue
Indigenous Kidney Health
Presented by: Karen Yeates, MD, FRCPC, Associate Professor, Division of Nephrology, Co-Director of the Queen’s University School of Medicine Office of Global Health, Queen's University
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:
- Examine the key drivers of the burden of chronic kidney disease among Canada's Indigenous Peoples
- Recognize the impact of complex intergenerational traumas on health and access to health services for Indigenous Peoples
- Identify the concepts of cultural safety and cultural security and review culturally safe principles that can be applied in our health care practices
