Description:

Welcome to the AMS Community Development Summit! The event is being presented by the Alma Mater Society (AMS), which is Queen's University's undergraduate student government.

This year, the Summit will aim to evaluate the University District Safety Initiative and address key issues regarding student-community relations and accountability. The goals of the event are:

  1. To better understand the issues surrounding the University District Safety Initiative from a holistic perspective. Understanding the Problem and its Impacts.
  2. To inform and build the foundation for the evaluation of the University District Safety Initiative.
  3. To demonstrate the commitment of the AMS to addressing the problem of binge drinking and its disruptive and dangerous consequences.
  4. To assess the current state of student-community relations.

 

We are also pleased to announce that our special keynote speaker, will be Kingston's own Mark Gerretson, Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, commencing at 10:30 a.m. Registrants will be given a 50-minute lunch break, with complimentary catering services provided by Aqua Terra. All registrants will also receive a complimentary takeaway.

 

The Mayor will be present on the University District Safety Initiative review panel, along with representatives from By-Law Enforcement, Queen's University, Frontenac Paramedics, Kingston Police, and Public Health.
