Description:

Felix Hell is one of the most sought after concert organists in the world, and has been featured as recitalist and concerto soloist in more than 850 concerts throughout North America, Europe, Asia and AustraliaThe American Organist raved that he “sets standards that older and honored players would struggle to equal.” Felix Hell has gained global recognition through his marathon performances of the complete organ works of Bach.  He will premiere his program Bach & Bonhoeffer at the Isabel, pairing the momentous music of Bach with the powerful writings of courageous German theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer. R.H. Thomson, one of Canada’s most talented and beloved actors, will read selections from Bonhoeffer’s letters and poems written in prison in 1944 – his final works just prior to his execution in 1945. Bach selections include Fantasy and Fugue in G Minor (BWV 542), Passacaglia (BWV 582) and his deathbed chorale ‘Before thy throne I now appear’ (BWV 668).  Felix Hell has developed his Bach & Bonhoeffer project collaboratively with the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts and R.H. Thomson to present new dimensions to the compositions of Bach and the writings of Bonhoeffer.
