"Shorefast, a registered Canadian charity, is re-defining what is means to develop a successful business. The charity uses social business to achieve their mission of building economic and cultural resiliency on Fogo Island, Newfoundland. Gwen Patrick will discuss Shorefast and their use of business as a community and economic development tool through her experiences of interning with the organization during the summer of 2018. Furthermore, Gwen will present her work of measuring and promoting the value of Fogo Island’s economy and community and review the applicability of Shorefast’s model within similar communities."
