On Love, Lesbos, and the Reputation of Sappho: Anacreon’s Girl with Ornate Sandals.
This paper explores how scholars have misread Anacreon’s well-known poem about a girl from Lesbos by seeing it through the lens of peculiarly modern ideas about Sappho, her sexuality, and her poetry.
