Water and Sustainability in Roman Ostia
The city of Ostia was closely connected to the changing fortunes of Rome. This paper identifies the hydraulic systems of these three insulae and places them within their wider social and environmental context; by juxtaposing the hydraulic systems with social and environmental data, this paper identifies new relationships between Roman technology, water habits, and environmental data.
