Developing Intercultural Teaching Competence (ITC) Series: Exploring Cultural Positionality in Teaching and Learning

When:
Thursday, February 3, 2022
1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
Where:
Description:

Please note: This workshop is renamed from “Developing Foundational Intercultural Teaching Competence” workshop that CTL has previously offered. The content and activities will remain the same.

As culture and education are intrinsically intertwined, educators need to become aware of their own cultural positionality in teaching and learning to effectively respond to the needs and expectations of diverse students.

This workshop aims to help participants explore how their cultural positionality may shape their teaching beliefs and approaches, engender their interactions with students, and place impact on students’ learning experiences.

By the end of the workshop, participants will develop a better understanding of their own cultural positionality in teaching and learning in order to reinforce educational equity in their practices.
