Where:
University Club
Room: George Teves Room

Description:

The Department of English invites you to the Sister Sophie Lecture given by Dr. Kandice Chuh, CUNY, entitled: "Pedagogies of Il/liberal Humanism". Can the humanities be oriented toward histories of the impoverishment of peoples and worlds, enslaved an gendered labor, Indigenous dispossession, and developmentalism, rather than the unifying ideals of liberalism?  This lecture proposes as a collective project for the humanities the elicitation of capacities for reckoning with these entangled conditions.

The Sister Sophie lectures are made possible by a generous donation from Sophie Yang Director of the Sister Sophie Ltd school in Markham, Ontario.

All welcome, reception to follow.
