Description:

Downloading History: Sources and inspirations in First World War computer games

Dr. Chris Kempshall, instructor on the BISC 100: Thinking Locally course, will be speaking on his research into the representation of First World War content and imagery in recent computer games.  In the aftermath of the recent centenary anniversaries of the War’s beginning and end, Dr. Kempshall will examine the sources and inspirations of the developers behind these games and discuss how particular visions of history have been converted into new media.

Dr. Kempshall's talk is the first in the Bader International Study Centre's series of Faculty Research Talks, which will showcase BISC faculty research and provide opportunities for discussion while we are all working and studying remotely from the BISC campus in the UK and from the Kingston campus. Since it is a virtual event, we are delighted to extend this invitation to students, staff, and faculty on the Kingston campus. There will be time after the talk for attendees to ask questions, and the sessions will be recorded and made available afterwards on the BISC website for those unable to attend in real time.  Please join us as your schedule permits.
