A GIS based approach to estimating potential agricultural pesticide exposure at the population level in Canada
Kristian Larsen (PhD) is a Research Scientist at Health Canada, Senior Investigator at CAREX Canada, Sessional Lecturer at the University of Toronto and Adjunct Professor at Toronto Metropolitan University. He has interdisciplinary training in Medical Geography, Environmental Epidemiology, Urban Planning and Environmental Studies. His research uses geographic information science (GIS) and quantitative spatial methods to examine the relationship between the environment and health, with a focus on cancer and chronic disease prevention. The goal of his work it to produce evidence that may ultimately be used in policy to create healthier more livable, equitable and sustainable communities, while reducing chronic diseases. Kristian has a few themes to his research portfolio including: children’s independent mobility and active sustainable transport, environmental exposures and cancer prevention, Indigenous health and inequalities in access to health care. Kristian has over 45 peer reviewed journal articles in leading public health, medical geography and environment journals.
