Join the Student Experience Office, Kingston Writer’s Fest and Stauffer Library for a special Queen’s Reads event featuring author Tima Kurdi as she discusses her book The Boy on the Beach.
The Boy on the Beach is an intimate and poignant memoir about the family of Alan Kurdi—a young Syrian boy who became the global emblem for the desperate plight of millions of Syrian refugees—and of the many extraordinary journeys the Kurdis have taken, spanning countries and continents. The Boy on the Beach explores newcomer experiences, the global refugee crisis, the politicization of tragedy, and the love and hope that one family shared in the face of grief and adversity.
A book signing will follow the onstage event. Books will be available for sale onsite for community members and a limited number of free copies will be available for Queen’s students, faculty and staff.
Doors open at 6:30pm and the event starts at 7:00pm.
Students, faculty and staff can register for free using the registration link.
