Shimon Attie: The Crossing

Of international renown, New York-based visual artist Shimon Attie’s Rosen lecture will start with "The Writing on the Wall," a series of projects in Berlin's former Jewish Quarter, and "Portraits of Exile" an underwater installation in Copenhagen that intermixed the history of the Danish rescue of their Jewish community to neutral Sweden in 1943. The talk will address the challenges facing present-day refugees, and continuing with a discussion of more recent artworks. Attie's Rosen lecture will highlight a selection of his projects across space and time, which includes the creation of site-specific installations, art, photographs and video work, that provoke reflection on the relationship between place, memory and identity. Reception with food and drink to follow.

Shimon Attie's "The Crossing and Other Tales" will be on view in the Art and Media Lab at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Preforming Arts from October 25th to October 30th 2022. Please check the Isabel for hours of opening.
