Simḥat Torah

Description:

Simḥat Torah (Rejoicing of the Law) is the beginning of the synagogue's annual Torah reading cycle. Reform Jews celebrate it along with Shemini Atzeret. Religious accommodation may be required for this observance/holy day. Suspension of work/classes may be requested by observant. Accommodation for both Reform and Orthodox: beginning eve of Simḥat Torah + observed day: non-working.
