Soprano Susan Gouthro & pianist Allison Gagnon in Recital

Susan Gouthro will be Artist-in-Residence at the Dan School of Drama and Music from March 5 to 10. This public recital will be the last event of the residency. She will be joined by pianist Allison Gagnon. Both artists are graduates of the Bachelor of Music program in the School of Music at Queen's and both have had impressive international careers.

Susan Gouthro has enjoyed an active career performing in concert and opera. Her professional opera career began at the opera house in Kiel, Germany where she was a permanent member of the solo ensemble from 2002 until 2014. Here Susan Gouthro experienced great success singing many of the most important roles of the lyric soprano repertoire. Invited to sing as a guest, Susan Gouthro has sung many of these roles in other German opera houses, most recently, she was celebrated as the opera-diva Carlotta in Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ world famous musical The Phantom of the Opera at the Stage Metronom Theater in Oberhausen.

Pianist Allison Gagnon directs the Collaborative Piano Program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and appears in recital with both instrumental and vocal colleagues. Before joining the UNCSA faculty in 1998, Dr. Gagnon taught at Queen’s University and was staff pianist at McGill University. She has been a member of the piano staff at the renowned Meadowmount School of Music in New York for almost 20 years. Dr. Gagnon completed her DMA with Anne Epperson at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
