On January 27, 2026, Global Connect, in partnership with Queen's Human Resources, hosted an in-person information session on Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) pathways for staff and faculty. The session was facilitated by immigration consultant Era Macwan (Office of the Provost), who guided participants through commonly used immigration pathways relevant to employees working in Canada.
In Spring 2025, Global Connect organized monthly lunch events. Global Connect members were invited to bring their own lunch and take a moment to connect with each other and share their experiences as international employees at Queen's.
On November 6, 2024, Global Connect was officially launched as an Employee Resource Group with an event at Mitchel Hall's DDQIC Rose Event Commons, where 35 guests gathered to have lunch together and chat about their experiences as international employees at Queen's. We welcomed opening remarks from Vice-Principal (Culture, Equity, and Inclusion) Stephanie Simpson and Associate Vice-Principal (Human Resources) Lisa Walsh. We are looking forward to reconnecting with this community in 2025!
On June 15, 2023, staff and faculty from across campus gathered for Queen’s Global Connect, an event organized to bring together those who identify as international and newcomers to Canada to build and strengthen community bonds, and further nurture an inclusive, globally-minded campus environment.
