Informing policy to support regional health human resources planning for integrated care models

In partnership with the Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Ontario Health Team (FLA-OHT) and Ontario Health, the overall aim is to inform policy to support regional health human resource (HHR) planning for integrated care with the following objectives:

  1. To understand the contextual factors that influence regional planning and apply an HHR planning frame work driven by population health needs in one Ontario Health Team;
  2. To reflect on the evidence generated in objective 1 and contextualize how policymakers and knowledge users can implement the proposed policy options related to regional HHR planning;
  3. To co-develop a set of policy options to inform integrated care models for regional HHR planning.

Using a multiple methods approach in three inter-related phases, a population health focused HHR planning framework will be implemented in the FLA-OHT Ontario Health Team (OHT), an integrated care model within the province of Ontario. The knowledge generated and resultant policy recommendations will be an exemplar model for policy makers and a template for how other integrated care models can support regional HHR planning to meet local population needs.

The Informing policy to support regional health human resources planning for integrated care models project is supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
