Research Fellow
Vaska is a Nurse Practitioner from Toronto, ON with a career in nursing spanning more than 30 years. She has a Master of Science degree in Nursing with a dissertation focused on sex differences in cardiac symptomatology.
She subsequently completed an Adult Nurse Practitioner program and worked in the hospital setting across the trajectory of cardiac care. She also completed a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner program and worked in primary and urgent care in the community and private sectors. Throughout her career she has been involved in research and teaching activities. She has presented at national and international conferences on the topic of cardiac care and also the nurse practitioner role in Canada. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters.
Vaska is currently enrolled in the Nursing PhD program in the School of Nursing at Queen’s University. She has successfully completed her course work and comprehensive exams and is currently focused on her dissertation examining nurse leader credibility from the point-of-care nurse perspective. Vaska is a graduate research fellow and is providing research support for this current HHR planning project.
