The Pain Research Lab has been studying pain and pain-related psychosocial factors over the past two decades.
Many people are unaware that there are chronic abdominal-pelvic pain diseases occur frequently in our country and the world at large. In recent years, our lab has focused more so on understanding the “life impact” of such diseases for adults and adolescents.
Much of our new grants and research projects are focused on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis), Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CP/CPPS) in men, and Interstitial Cystitis / Bladder Pain Syndrome (IC/BPS) in women. We are interested in pain experience, disease outcomes and related disability, relationship impact, sexuality, and very concerned about mood and suicidality in our patient groups.
