Millie Morton, QWA member will talk about her book,
Grace: A teacher’s life, one-room schools and a century of change in Ontario.
Grace is the story of a woman who grew up on a farm and became a teacher in one-room schools. Her life (1907-2008) illustrates how much women teachers contributed to Ontario’s development and how much has changed in a century.
Grace’s lessons went far beyond the classroom. She was one of the first mothers in her area to work away from home.
She was a dedicated volunteer in her community and a poet who celebrated country living.
A mother-daughter story, the book shows how chance, determination, and simple kindness have far-reaching effects.
The hibiscus is part of the story – a flower of celebration. In different cultures, it symbolizes delicate beauty, courage, honour, and immortality.
Autographed copies of Millie’s book will be available for sale ($25.00 by cash). Looking for an unique gift for someone special? This book may be your answer.
Tea and goodies will follow the presentation.
