President's Message

In the first six months as your President we have seen the creation of the Collective Kitchen Initiative interest group (soon to be renamed Cooking with Grandmas), the sponsorship of the Queen’s Food Bank and improvements to the third-floor apartment.  We have a married couple as the new caretakers in the apartment.  They are both doing postgraduate work at Queen’s and we are pleased to have them taking care of our house.

We now have a box for suggestions in the front hall. If you have an idea, maintenance concern or a way to improve our organization, please, jot it down and put it in the box.  Our Executive will look at the suggestions each month and try to act on the ideas if possible.

It’s that time of year again when we are looking for new members to fill the available executive positions. If you are approached by any of the nominating committee to submit your name for election to an office, please, consider letting your name stand.  We are all volunteers and without you we would not have a Queen’s Women’s Association.  The Executive is a wonderful group of dedicated people who are eager to make this organization better for us all.

I do hope you will consider attending our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday April 26th.  This is a wonderful opportunity to socialize with other QWA members, meet the Executive, hear a great speaker and enjoy a delicious lunch.  The business meeting is very short, but it is a chance for you to learn more about your organization.
