The Queen’s Women’s Association is a now a Sponsor of the Queen’s Food Bank.
The Food Bank is housed in the John Deutsch building on campus. This and our Collective Kitchen initiative are very worthwhile causes and provide us with more visibility within the Queen’s community. You may have seen a donation box in the foyer at 144 Albert.
In December, we collected six large shopping bags of food and $100 from the Intermediate Bridge and Theme Luncheon groups. Some students are without funds; they have no housing, nor do they have money for the basics. They also cannot afford travel home. Our contributions made holiday time a little more festive for them. To support this initiative, we are encouraging members to donate: non-perishable, healthy food, as well as personal care products.
If each of us were to donate just one item per month, we would have about 200 items for the Food Bank per month.
