Our research focuses on using surface acoustic waves (SAWs) to modulate the properties of semiconductors at gigahertz frequencies. Using SAWs, we currently have two major research areas. One aspect of the research will study the transport and modulation of electron spins. Another recently funded area of research is using SAWs to modulate photonic crystals embedded with resonant quantum dots with the goal of creating a single photon emitter.
