Our Vision

PathomicsV-Lab — where intelligence meets medicine. Where research becomes reality. Where every breakthrough matters.

We started with a simple question: "What if AI could help doctors diagnose disease faster — and more accurately?" We have been working on the answer ever since.

Based in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen's University, we use Artificial Intelligence, deep learning, and machine learning to analyse digital tissue slides and pathology reports. Our mission is clear: Build AI tools that pathologists trust. Tools that work. Tools that change outcomes for patients.

Our Director

Dr Sonal Varma founded PathomicsV-Lab with a vision that still drives everything we do. As a practising pathologist, she understands the pressure doctors face. As a researcher, she knows how to build solutions that actually work. She leads a team that is proud to be at the forefront of AI in diagnostic pathology.

Our Community

We are proud to collaborate with:

  • Kingston Health Sciences Centre
  • School of Computing, Queen's
  • Digital Pathology Partners

We welcome students who are ready to do work that matters. Together, we are proving that the future of pathology is already here. Get Involved

Inspiring the Next Generation

We believe the greatest investment in the future of medicine is the people we train today. PathomicsV-Lab proudly welcomes graduate students from medicine, computing and engineering who share our passion for meaningful research. Our students work at the extraordinary crossroads of medicine and machine learning. They do not just learn about AI. They built it. They test it. They take it into clinical settings and prove that it works. They leave PathomicsV-Lab ready to lead the next chapter of medical innovation.
