[Student speaks with potential employers]Students have several chances to meet employers face-to-face during career fairs this winter.

The Summer Job Fair has a new home in the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).

“We hope the move to the ARC makes it convenient for students to access the resources and opportunities the fair has to offer,” says Claire Lesage, Manager, Employer Relations. “Students can easily stop by before working out or grabbing a coffee.”

The fair provides students with opportunities to meet with nearly 20 employers from a variety of sectors and locations. Career Services has created tip sheets to help students prepare to speak with employers.

Students can also access a drop-in resume clinic where peer career educators will provide strategies for customizing their resumes for particular job opportunities.

“In the current competitive marketplace, every advantage one can get puts them a step closer to employment,” says Ali Brunet (Sc’13). “Queen’s students have the chance to meet employers face-to-face at the career fairs, giving them a huge advantage in finding jobs.”

The Summer Job Fair takes place January 22 10:30 am-3:30 pm. There are two more career fairs this winter – the Engineering and Technology Career/Internship Fair on January 23 in Biosciences Complex, and Live and Work Kingston Fair on February 12 in Grant Hall.
