New resources are now available on the HR Intranet focused on pension and retirement planning. Resources cover a wide range of topics including information about the University Pension Plan (UPP), retiree benefits, the Pension Projection Tool, and other services available through our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provider, TELUS Health One. These resources are the first step in a collaborative effort to provide ease of access to important HR information.

As part of this work, employees can now access a new brochure that focuses on the transition to retirement, including important information like choosing a retirement date, understanding retirement income, and eligibility for retiree group benefits. A visual guide depicting the retirement process is also available and can be used in combination with the brochure as a starting point for retirement planning. 

In addition to these resources, Retirement Information Sessions will also be offered to employees beginning in February. These sessions are geared towards employees typically within five years of retirement and will highlight a variety of topics including:

• Strategies for transitioning from the workplace
• Pre-retirement supports and programs
• Pension calculation and key decision points
• Important steps and timing in the retirement process
• Post-retirement services and resources
• Different ways to stay connected after retirement

Sessions will be offered virtually on Feb. 6, March 6, and April 3. More details including registration are available on the HR Intranet. Employees can direct questions to their HR representative. 

Moving into Fall 2024, pension plan members can expect to see a new member service experience with UPP. Further details will be coming in the months ahead. Learn more on the UPP website.
